Ohyeathat Report post Posted September 5, 2014 Whipped jasmine cream and peach blossom with vanilla orchid and white frankincense. In the bottle: The first thing I noticed was the sweet, creamy vanilla notes. Secondly was the jasmine, then peach dances in. It made me think of having a peach custard dessert with small vase of jasmine flowers near by.On Skin: Bright peach, creamy vanilla and sweet summery jasmine. I don't get the frankincense note yet. I think it's the note that's rounding out the others.Dry: More of the same with very minimal throw.I don't know if I want to keep the bottle yet. Maybe if I moisturized very well before applying the oil it would give it more throw. I must say it is very lovely.
Antoinette Report post Posted September 6, 2014 I swear I've been sitting here for a long time trying to find the right words to describe this blend. And words are failing me. Actually, I've been trying to write this review for almost a week. Words keep failing me. This blend is...magic? Yes. I think it is. A magical blend of notes that I love whipped up into an uncompromising beauty that intoxicates as it simultaneously makes me want to eat my wrist. There is a delicious beauty in this that makes me happy. I find it to be fleeting on my skin, so I have to reapply. Something about that makes me love it even more. It's so pretty that you can't catch it, just experience it for a little while before looking for more. Easily in my top ten all time favorites.
aiobhan Report post Posted September 7, 2014 Bottle: Peaches, cream, and definitely jasmine. Maybe a whiff of frankincense? On skin: More peaches! It's basically peaches and jasmine at this point. I hope the jasmine calms down a lot and the peach, cream, and frankincense comes out more once it warms up. Dry, after about an hour: The jasmine has calmed down considerably - it was so strong for a while that I was tempted to wash it off. Thankfully, now I smell like peaches, a little cream, a little jasmine. Still no frankincense, really. After a few hours: Tart, ripe peaches, a whiff of jasmine, and a slight creaminess. I can finally smell a little frankincense and vanilla orchid, too! It's mellowed out a lot, but is decently strong, and I expect it will last a long while. Final thoughts: It starts off pretty strong, but be patient, because it warms nicely. Very fruity and floral, but light and fresh. The cream balances it out well. Unfortunately, my skin just isn't a fan of this jasmine accord, and it's being amped over the lovely peaches and cream smell. I'll have to send this off to someone whose skin likes jasmine! If you're a fan of fresh, sweet fruits and light florals, give this one a try! It's really very lovely. Like fresh cut peaches, cream, and a vase full of jasmine flowers. annemathematics Report post Posted September 7, 2014 first applied to my wrist I get a big blast of that over the top cream note from plovers above the waves and youth's disengagement. vanilla, peach and jasmine emerge, taking turns announcing themselves and then stepping back to let other notes do the same. they eventually combine to form a lovely, liqueur-spiked floral peach that has a low throw and seems to last longer in the cool darkness of night. reapplied this morning it faded within a few hours. overall a gorgeous blend that I can see myself reaching for a lot. porcelina Report post Posted September 9, 2014 oooh peach viii is a real winner for me! i normally don't care for florals but i knew i had to get this as i thought the cream/peach blossom/frankincense combination would be kind of awesome and one of the winners from this year's d*c exclusives. i was right! i don't get a lot of frankincense, and the jasmine is very light, which is how i like it. the scent is dominated by fluffy cream with hints of sweet peach and jasmine. it's SUCH a lovely smell and is beautifully feminine and it lasts a decent amount of time on my skin, surprisingly. such a soft, pretty scent... i will treasure my bottl! bheansidhe Report post Posted September 10, 2014 What would crème brûlée smell like if it were made with peaches and jasmine instead of egg and sugar? This, this. The first wet dollop is unbelievably plush and creamy. If you're curious about the jasmine, it's a dead ringer for the sampuigita single note. If you found that one too woody-harsh (I did), here it's rounded by the other notes. Jasmine and peach dominate and the rest sing chorus. Nothing I would wear, but should go over really well with jasmine fans. Never goes soapy or shrill.
HerbGirl Report post Posted September 14, 2014 Oh dear. This is beautiful! The jasmine here reminds me of the jasmine from Pannychis, and it blends so well with the Peach and Frankincense...the Frankincense almost smells peppery to me, but only at the very beginning. Absolutely beautiful.
OctoberGwen Report post Posted September 26, 2014 Nope. This one does not work for me at all. Something skews as slightly plastic on my skin (normally vanilla is the culprit; vanilla orchid has never done that on me so that's a first), and it's just too sweet/franky. The cream note is wonky, too. Glad I tried it so I know what the fuss is about, but this one does not love me at all.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted September 30, 2014 Sweet baby jesus. I have no idea how Beth and the Lab have done it, but on wet I get a giant whipped cream note. Like straight up whipped cream. When I uncorked the imp, the first smell was very rich and buttery, but on my skin it immediately transformed into whipped cream. With jasmine. Sweet summery jasmine, but still jasmine. Whipped cream, jasmine and a dash of peach. As it dries, I get more of the vanilla orchid note peeping out. This is super summery, super Southern belle, sweet, fresh floral. If you can handle the BPAL jasmine note, GET THIS BLEND. GET IT NOW. I am super sad that jasmine always smells like cat pee to mr. zee_zee because this blend is gorgeous. And the first minute of absolute whipped cream perfection on my skin has been one truly magical BPAL moment. Here's to hoping that Beth decides whatever she is using as the whipped cream note in some other blend (which hopefully doesn't have jasmine in it). Which means, I'm off to re-read announcements and see if it has popped out anywhere since then.
Honey Girl Report post Posted October 1, 2014 Oh..my...god..this is heaven in a bottle. I like the smell of peaches and this is just..so freaking gorgeous. I don't know how to even describe other than it smells like sweet peaches topped off with delectable creamy whipped cream. I have a bad feeling this may be my favorite sweet scent yet and that i'll never find another bottle of this bottled perfection. Maybe i'll be able to trade some other LE down the road I have with someone for another one of these sweet, sweet babies. I wish that there were some GC Peach scents like this. violetblue Report post Posted October 4, 2014 (edited) All I get is creamy jasmine/orchid, which is a death note on me. I got this anyways in hopes it'd be subtle, but not in my 1/2 bottle. I had high hopes - if the jasmine/orchid wasn't so strong, it'd probably be a winner, as I love the lab's cream note. Wish it was in more things. I get no peach or frank. Dyrdown is a delicious candyish scent and the florals lessen, but sadly it doesn't work for me. Off to swaps. Edited October 4, 2014 by violetblue
Balame Report post Posted October 8, 2014 Aah, the cream, the cream. I absolutely love BPAL's cream but no blend except Glowing Vulva have really given it time to shine for me. The same is true here... While it's very noticeable on first application, the jasmine (blegh) quickly takes over. It mostly turns into a STRONG, almost candy-ish jasmine with white florals and peach. Not my thing!
stellamaris Report post Posted October 8, 2014 Gah this is just freaking delicious. The cream note is very round and heavy, the scent is deep but delicate, love it. I have used half the bottle already...sob...
puck_nc Report post Posted October 12, 2014 Origin: bottle bought through a massive D*Con decant circle Initial Thoughts: The first few times I tried a BPAL scent that was predominantly peach, it would be too in-your-face fruity for me. My first success was Peach Moon, which was peach blossom rather than fruit, and Peach V from last year's Dragon*Con ended up working very well as a superbly balanced peach tea scent. This one alone of the 2014 Peach Pit spoke to me because I often enjoy jasmine, I love vanilla orchid, I love peach blossom. And I have lately discovered that my white musk=good/dark musk=amp rule seems to apply to patchouli. So it's time to try white frankincense as well. In the Bottle: A rich and gloopy dessert of flowers. Jasmine and peach blossom drenched in vanilla and cream. This is gorgeous and I could just huff the bottle. There'll be some scent locket action with this one. Wet: Hello, incense! Aren't you just so light and pretty when you aren't amping to 11? And aren't you nice to let the other notes keep playing? Drydown: Both the jasmine and vanilla orchid have stepped up, simultaneously making the scent a bit sweeter and a bit airier/white floral. It has lost the luscious decadence of the bottle on my skin, but it's still a lovely, rather sophisticated floral. Verdict: Total keeper. And nice to know my journey through the white side of the musk/patchouli/incense family continues on a positive note. Time to watch out for white amber next... EphemeralFey Report post Posted October 12, 2014 Purchase: Bottle from a decant circle In the bottle: It smells like someone steeped vanilla orchid petals in cream before whipping it up. Not getting any peach, jasmine or frankincense. Bordering on a very sweet foodie cream right now. Test Area: Inside crook of elbow Wet: Ahh there you are peach blossoms and jasmine, with just a hint of wonderful incense underneath! Drydown: The frankincense has taken center stage, with the cream note being a wonderful back-up player. The jasmine and vanilla orchid peak through on occasion. The peach blossom seems to have vanished, which happens to me with Peach Moon ’09, so I’m not terribly surprised. 1 hour later: The frankincense cream has taken back stage, and the peach blossom has finally returned! I think I’m getting little whiffs of jasmine as well. I must confess to sniffing my arm during the hour wait, and oh boy is this a morpher! I went from the frankincense cream, to a peach jasmine, then to a vanilla frankincense, and then finishing off to a slightly creamy peach blossom. Sadly no orchid that I could detect. Thoughts: I was very worried from the initial sweet foodie smell that my blind bottle record of 100% success had finally met its first failure, but I am so happy that I took a chance on this!! While the bottle seems far too sweet for me, the flora and frankincense notes that I love so much (and ultimately drew me to purchasing this) appear on my skin, and beat down the foodie sweet smell. My small skin patch test area has very little throw, though hopefully a full day slather test will give me better results. While I don’t see the hunt for a back-up bottle, I do see this being more coveted and loved then my bottle of Peach Moon.
Magycmyste Report post Posted October 14, 2014 Thanks to my DC fairy for getting me my half-bottle of this! In the bottle: Creamy vanilla and peach, touched with jasmine. This makes me want dessert. Wet on skin: The jasmine pops out more on my skin. Dried down: Creamy jasmine tinted with peach. I'm still not really picking out the frankincense, but I don't really care Throw: Very light, like whipped cream. Verdict: ***** Oh my GOD, I love this! I think I've figure out that I'm not that much of a peach person. While I love the flavor of peaches, I don't do well with its scent after a bit. But this... the peach is definitely there, but it's playing peekaboo from behind the jasmine cream and vanilla, and it's glorious on me! This bottle is definitely a keeper, and I think I'm going to be on the hunt for a backup. Or two.
Astarial Report post Posted October 15, 2014 Oh man, this is gorgeous. In the bottle, this is CREAM! and jasmine! Jasmine whipped cream! There might be some of the vanilla flower and peach blossom hanging out in there too. I'm not sure - but it's a delicious floral whipped cream om nom nom I want to bake cupcakes and make jasmine-infused whipped cream to frost them with. Thanks a lot, Peach VIII. The cream note recedes on my skin, where this becomes a sweet and creamy vanilla jasmine, with just a breath of peachiness. It's got a decent throw, and is soft and gentle. Very feminine. Over time, the florals ease up and I can smell the cream again, and I think some of the frankincense comes out. Not sure if it's because it's the "white" type or because this blend is still young, but the frank never qualifies for anything stronger than "subdued". The peach, too, is more a supporting note than a main player. I get a lot of similarities between this blend and Katrina van Tassel ("White rose and honeyed cream"), so if you liked Kat - or have had a hard time finding any - this might be an alternative. I haven't done a direct matchup (though I should!), but they've got similar floral/sweet/cream notes and I envision myself reaching for them in similar situations. cameroncrazed Report post Posted October 21, 2014 In bottle: Pure jasmine. Wet on skin: Creamy jasmine, with the faintest hint of peach lurking in the background, like it was finished with just a little touch of peach juice. Dry on skin: A very light sugared peach. Hints of vanilla and cream. Just the lightest kiss of jasmine. Very light, soft, and innocent, if that makes any sense. Not as strong a peach as my beloved Peach Moon, but still very lovely. Low throw, so I keep having to sniff at my wrists. Really like it, but it's probably not going to be part of my regular rotation. I could see me reaching for this in the middle of summer, as it kinda reminds of summer in the South with the peach and the jasmine.
milo Report post Posted October 23, 2014 Sweet, sweet jasmine of what smells like the night blooming variety. Maybe it's just the 'whipped' cream aspect making it smell like it is so. This is creamy, delicious jasmine, with the barest hint of peach, which I probably wouldn't have detected if it hadn't been listed. I really like this, but I doubt I would wear it too much, it's not really 'me', and kind of sweet to boot. It does remind me of 'Self Portrait', I think it was called, the honeyed gardenia, which I have a bottle of. Something to that effect, though with jasmine instead of gardenia. I like that one better, but this is pretty good too!
Jangzonrice Report post Posted October 25, 2014 Jasmine and peach whipped cream...this is so perfect! I have to track down a bottle and on me it lasts for around 5/6 hours!
astarinel Report post Posted October 26, 2014 Definitely jasmine whipped cream. Sweet, light jasmine. I find some BPAL jasmine notes overwhelming, but this one isn't quite so strong. I do wish for a little more peach blossom/vanilla orchid, because I wouldn't pick out either if I hadn't read the notes list, there's just a vague fruit/other floral hiding underneath the jasmine cream. If you read the notes list and thought it sounded appealing, you'll probably like this. This is one of the better "plays well with other notes" jasmines I've come across, and as it dries I start to actually get something peachy. Light, fluffy floral. I found the throw quite low, especially after the jasmine faded a bit.
LiberAmoris Report post Posted April 26, 2015 Peach VIII is just gorgeous. The whipped jasmine cream alone. This is creamy peach blossom and jasmine on me, with vanilla orchid and white frankincense pinning everything together. If some subtle, talented candymaker made pastilles inspired by springtime, it would smell like this. I may have to wear this again tomorrow.
Casablanca Report post Posted March 13, 2017 Peach VIII’s jasmine appears to be a high-pitched variety, rather than soft like Winter Jasmine, but for all that I still like it, especially in this blend. The jasmine dominates a beautiful whipped vanilla cream dolloped on a non-pulpy peach. Lovely. I don’t pick out vanilla orchid by itself, but there’s a nice blending from the edge of the jasmine through the peach flower that seems like it includes one or two other flowers. I only get the very faintest ghost of frankincense. This blend (mainly its jasmine) has a life of several hours on me. It hits a sweet spot for my taste this spring and makes a great alternative to my favorite peach, Peach I (2016).
celestia Report post Posted May 23, 2017 ♔ Peach VIII In the Bottle: Juicy creamy peach and soft sweetened jasmine floral Wet: This certainly smells like a fresh, vanillic peach with soft jasmine petals. It’s VERY peach-centric. Jasmine is not screechy, sharp or potent- probably because the whipped cream mellows it out a LOT..it's naturally sweet smelling, lightly fragrant, soft and gentle. The cream in this is not a foody cream, and combined with jasmine, it becomes a light dainty floral cream that has this airy and almost fluffy tangy quality that certainly calls to mind the honeyed cream note from Katrina Van Tassel. And if you consider the tart peach which I smell strongest on me, it's like a peach honeyed cream with a soft floral jasmine aroma? It’s super pretty and delicate smelling, even though the notes themselves are quite bold and distinctive. Drydown: Very feminine, if this was a commercial perfume it could be something you’d find in the classic feminine fruity floral section- just not the ordinary combination you’d expect to encounter, because the peach is a lot more fragrant and true (rather than conceptualised as with most commercial fragrances). The frankincense here is a very light whisper of incredibly light and sweet resins - it’s pale and almost white, adding a touch of ethereal to the scent. TL;DR: Tart peach honeyed cream, and soft sweet white jasmine floral.
starryeyes Report post Posted November 25, 2019 I don't totally get the spice with this bottle, but it's definitely more of a straightforward blend of peach and jasmine. I didn't think they could work well together but they really do. I haven't noticed any shift or morph in the scent over time on myself, but it's really nice and feminine. Radiates out for miles on me so I wear just a tiny dab and I'm good to go!
