Kay Torres Report post Posted March 7, 2017 Compassion: pink lotus root and fig milk with ylang ylang, bourbon vanilla, soft myrrh, fir, khus, and sandalwood incense. A quiet, understated scent. As moody as I am. Lol. Sometimes I put this on and it's spicy vanilla bubblegum. Other days it's warm, spiced milk with no hint of lotus. I like it both ways, and I really like that it's as changeable as my moods. Lol.
Lucchesa Report post Posted April 5, 2018 Lotus root is bubblegummy on me, and ylang ylang can be iffy, but everything else here is pure win. Fig milk!!! Please, sir, may I have some more? The fir and khus are extremely understated and nothing to fear. This scent is soft fruity bubble gum, soft creamy fig, soft bourbon vanilla, soft myrrh, soft sandalwood. A skin scent, exceptionally comforting. I love it and love the idea of adding to the world's sum of compassion. Maybe on those crappy ass days when I'm in a foul mood and want to slather on some Troll, I should wear Poor Monkey instead.
Teamama Report post Posted October 29, 2019 I'm surprised I never reviewed Poor Monkey--time to fix that omission! This is a skin scent, suitable for almost anywhere scent can be worn. On me, the fig milk & vanilla predominate, with the fir providing a cooling, understated ground. My notion of a wet monkey in a tree would be a lot muskier than this gentle, sweet blend. It pairs beautifully with Fig & White Sandalwood HG. Bottles are currently available on the Lab's Etsy--if you love the Lab's fig note, don't miss out! muined Report post Posted November 13, 2019 Swapped for it because I wanted a figgy scent, was not disappointed. I'm not a huge fan of the fir note, but thankfully it dissipates quickly, while the fig and vanilla cling. Weirdly, maybe, it smells to me like the edible moonflesh from Italo Calvino's "The Distance of the Moon" might. Lotus?
Kytha Report post Posted March 19, 2020 Received a frimp of this that says it's from 2016(?) as part of a purchase from the FB sales group. Quick impressions... Normally I amp wood a lot, but there's something in this blend (the lotus? I've not tried scents with it before) that largely reads of 'bubblegum' to me, but not as sugar-forward. Mildly fruity, milky bubblegum ... actually, it reminds me of a yogurt-flavored Hi-Chew (or some other similar chewy fruity yogurt candy). After a bit, the bubblegumminess calms down and it just becomes a sweet, 'juicy' candy smell that I like a fair bit.
torikitty Report post Posted May 29, 2020 (edited) I decided to try this on a whim in a swap. First impressions are woody, like maybe dried, woody lotus root? Not quite pencil shavings. Or maybe I'm amping the fir and sandalwood? I'm not getting anything sweet or bubblegummy. After a bit, the woodiness calms down. The fig starts to make it's way out. Then it has this clean smell of woodiness in a massage room. Half a day later...the woodiness is gone. It's like a sweet, creamy, kinda clean "floral". "Floral" makes me think really harsh, headache-inducing, but it's not. It's actually really wearable, but not very much sillage. I'm impressed with how long it stuck around, though.
