Sleet Hair Gloss

Recommended Posts

Sugared white mint, eucalyptus, lemon peel, orange blossom, and iced white honeycomb.

Ok... I will do my best here. I might not have considered this if I had known the notes beforehand, but so glad I got this!!

In bottle: sniffing, it is like a light, minty, forest.....not strong, but there. Some "forest" notes can be too much for my nose, but this is actually very pleasant.

In damp hair: Wow...this changes back and forth to me. At first, I get this soft, minty Christmas forest, and then after a second or two, the lemon/orange part of it comes out, and I think, oooh, beautiful spring time.... then I go back to, no.....forest in winter... then, no... back to spring!

This is amazing!! It is hard to pick but I guess I would have to say this is like a wintery forest on the verge of turning into spring time. This is a beautiful blend!! Get this while you can, :)

Forgot to add, this has a light throw on me.... I pictured Sleet as, well, being cold, wet, damp, but this to me is nothing like that!

This is strong!

But it's so gorgeous, cold and fresh! It reminds me of frozen, tart lemonade with sweet honey stirrers.

It will be delightful to wear is the middle of summer!

Exactly what I was imagining and hoping for! I had the (good?) fortune to have actual, Mother Nature-made sleet in my hair about 2 or 3 nights before my order arrived, so I can attest that this is the scent of real sleet, at least the sleet that falls where I live. :) It's a clean, cold, refreshing scent, icy with a hint of evergreen in the background. This is a bold, strong scent too and I could smell it in my hair many hours later (it took about 4 hours to lose the "just sprayed" power). In fact, even after I washed my hair with shampoo a few days later, the scent was still there! I had to get a 2nd bottle. Sheer perfection.

OMG SKADI IS THAT YOU?

Sleet in my mind smells very much like Skadi's little sister. It's got that wintery snow, hint of pine, berries. I think Skadi was more wintery snow + pine, so Sleet is a little softer with the berry addition. It's super Christmasy and wintery, but if you've missing Skadi, I'd give this a whirl.

And by Skadi, I mean, the Skadi from like 2004. I think there was a re-release post 2010 (meaning more recent), but it wasn't the same.

i never liked Skadi, way back when. and at the DSLE i sniffed Sleet and my first thought was that it reminded me of Skadi. i didn't spray it or try it, just sniffed it and knew it wasn't for me...

i will say that i might not have even sniffed it if i'd read the notes first. it just smells cold and slush-y... i didn't get mint or eucalyptus, lemon, or fritos out of it.

This is definitely in the same snow family to my nose as Skadi (the more recent one, I wasn't around for for the first iteration), Woods in Winter, etc., without any berries or other notes to muddy up the snow scent. Sadly sugared anything and I do not jive, I get a very chemical-y sweet note in with the cold Lab snow smell, and that's the end of that.

After reading the comparisons to Skadi, I had to get a decant of this, since that is my favorite Yule scent so far.

It's not quite a twin of Skadi, but as zankoku_zen said above, the scents are definitely close sisters. The pine note is the strongest to my nose, with a sweet citrus note and fresh snowy note backing it up. It makes me think of standing in a snowy pine forest while eating one of those tiny seedless oranges that come into season during the winter holidays.

This is a perfect Christmas pine scent and I may have to spring for a full bottle to spray everywhere during Winter Solstice and Christmas!I LOVE it! :wub3:

Origin: Straight from the Post

Initial Thoughts: When it first shows up on the website, I didn't think much about it because I wasn't interested in making my hair smell like winter. Then I started reading the reviews that compared it to Skadi, one of my favorite winter scents of all time. And I bought a bottle.

In the Bottle: First sniff, chilly pine forest. Second sniff, after reading the notes, I can tell I'm smelling mint and eucalyptus. Refreshing and cool and amazingly forest-like given that there's not a single "woodsy" note in the list.

Applying: All the eucalyptus!

Drying: It calms down as it dries, but remains very strongly mint and eucalyptus. I am not getting any identifiable trace of the lemon peel or orange blossom. I suppose I'm getting a bit of the ice, but not the honeycomb.

Wearing: This has a strong enough throw as to be distracting - I spent the morning getting prominent whiffs of Christmas. I fully expect that when in the shower tomorrow my wet hair will still have this scent clinging to it.

Verdict: I am unsure. It is a scent I love. I'm just not sure it's a scent I want in my hair. I may need to find a better home for this one.

I picked this up off the etsy a few weeks ago and just got around to trying it. Based off the notes, I thought this was going to be a slam dunk for me, and a great light scent for the summer.

Erm. Upon spraying it, it reminds me of a Voluspa candle I had over the holidays. It smells like a Christmas tree on me. I'm not getting any Orange Blossom or anything and it makes me so so sad! Especially now that my hair is shorter and it never gets wintery cold in Hawaii, I'm not sure when I'll really use this and enjoy it, so it may be on the market soon. Sad face.

This smells like a slightly less sweet version of Snow Bunny to my nose! A clean and crisp, delightful wintery blend, with the Lab's famous 'snow' note and a background of sweet sappy pine (although I do not actually see that listed in the notes). Beautiful!

This is kind of...edible evergreen forest on me. Not too sugary, but it's definitely there. Likewise, the forest isn't too cologney.
