Little Bird Report post Posted March 10, 2016 White lilies gilded by sparkling grey amber, Oman frankincense, pink pepper, raw white clove, and white musk. Perfumey, soapy white floral with golden, powdery amber-frankincense and a glassy, cool quality to it. My skin usually amps up spices, but I can't really pick out the pepper or clove in this. Too much muskiness for me, and it veers too much into powdery and soapy territory for my tastes.
Dark Alice Report post Posted March 11, 2016 The lily is the strongest note when wet. The grey amber keeps it in check the frankincense is barely there and the pink pepper is non-existent on me. The clove note adds to the mirror image this invokes. Whether porn or a looking glass...this scent is aptly named. I am very glad I got to try it.
Haltija Report post Posted March 15, 2016 I was very hesitant to try this one but also very interested and it's a fail. ): I have come to the conclusion that lily is a note that really hates me. Lily is all I smell here with a tiny whiff of white musk. A very strong white floral that gives me a awful headache. Will pass this one along to a better home. sunlitgarden Report post Posted March 29, 2016 In the decant: Is "gray amber" the same as ambergris? I don't smell the usual "ambergris" note in here, in any case. I mainly smell a spicy frankincense and the lily note is smelling a bit "green" to me, not just floral. The frankincense, possibly in combination with the spices and slightly green-smelling lily, is doing the thing it sometimes does where my brain associates its smell with pickled hot peppers... On my skin: The lily comes out more as a flower now compared to how it was in the decant. It still smells spicy at first, and the frankincense + spices are still kind of reminding my brain of something pickled... After a little while this starts to smell kind of soapy and powdery on me, but the frankincense and spices keep it from being overpoweringly floral. I'm not really smelling the white musk in here (it's usually a note I enjoy). I like this okay once it's dry (and the "pickle" association is gone), but overall I am preferring The Contrast for a frankincense scent from this update. LizziesLuck Report post Posted April 6, 2016 I didn't get this with my decants initially, but then all of a sudden I decided I just HAD to try it....that's happened with a lot of this year's Luper's..... It's super fresh out of the mail, barely even room temp yet! Wet: Wow, the grey amber in this is swoon worthy! And then the pepper joins it, tickling my nose, and creating something really unique. There is something so alluring about the combo of ambergris r grey amber, whatever you want to call it, with a floral - it's what makes me go crazy over A Specific Aberration, and it is totally working for me in this too. The pepper keeps amping though, and it's starting to drown out the other notes, which makes me pretty sad. Dry: This actually ends up smelling very similar to A Specific Aberration on me. This is a bit sweeter, and a bit of the pepperiness remains. Overall though, as much as I like this, I love Aberration more, and I already have a bottle of it, so likely don't need more of The Mirror. I am so glad I tried this, because now I know how much I love that ambergris/floral combo. It's truly beautiful.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted April 26, 2016 Lilies, grey amber, white musk. This smells like a more refined Belle Epoque - loads of lilies and grey amber. If possible, I'd say its a Frenchier Belle Epoque, which probably means this is super French and super classy/sophisticated. To me, this is a soft, classy floral along the lines of traditional perfumes. Meaning, hello, gateway BPAL. I'd totally use this enable individuals to BPAL and ease them into more creative BPAL that smells familiar. Sticks close to the skin, so would also be great for office wear. LiberAmoris Report post Posted May 7, 2016 I agree with z_z, The Mirror would be great gateway BPAL. The white lilies and grey amber and white musk are the most prominent notes on me, merging together to create a soft grey and white amber-musk-lily perfume that's smooth and refined. This smells like a perfume from the past, but not dated—classic. The frankincense, pink pepper, and white clove give depth and a bit of spice, but they don't intrude. Really beautiful. unxolve Report post Posted May 24, 2016 There's been a lot of florals this update, and most of them have been too teenage girl for me. This one smooth, tangy, creamy, slightly spicy, and adult. SN Easter Lily was too much for me, but here the flower is tempered into a just-right pitch by all the other stuff in here. I don't like MUSK, usually, and this HAS musk, but its also grounded by the amber. The combination Just Works. Definitely feminine, definitely spring. Putting it with Hidden Pearls as cute, spring floralish scents that I actually like! (:
theredkilt Report post Posted August 7, 2016 (edited) I get light clove with powdery white musk and very faint lilies. A clean oriental floral blend. Truly refined. Edited August 10, 2016 by theredkilt
