Seven Word Story: Lust

This spring we challenged friends and fans to answer that call, baring their souls (and more) in our steamy, Lust-themed #BPAL7wordstory contest.

“Seduce us in seven!” we demanded, promising the winning story would be enshrined in a Limited Edition fragrance. The response was overwhelming — and downright filthy. Over eight hundred entries later, Lust found its new champion. The winning story, submitted via Twitter by @GeekDame, took flight in our perfumer’s imagination and resulted in the following myth-tinged tryst.

He breathed smoke across her pomegranate-stained lips.

Chthonic incense and blood-red pomegranate.

In The Bottle: Juicy pomegranate. Really fresh- it made my mouth water a little! Behind that is the faintest hint of sweet incense, the sort you might find in a head shop about 40 years ago.

Wet On Skin: The incense is stronger now, making this scent *completely* like the smell inside a headshot 40 years ago

Dry Down: Same.

In All: Medium throw, this scent also has the edge of the kinds of incense I recall from working at goth shops in the 90s. There's a dusty rose aspect (very subtle) and that musty note that shows up in some Lab incense blends. I honestly don't know that I like it enos to keep it, but if you're a fan of fruity incense scents, this is the oil for you for sure.

[Lambent]

A tart pomegranate with the haze of a clean gray wisp of smoke in the background. The incense doesn't smell so much like incense as it evokes the feeling of smelling smoke (my nose actually tingled a little bit when I smelled the perfume from the bottle). It's remarkably clean and sharp; I don't really get a resinous, heavy feeling from this at all. Elegant.

[Numanoid]

In decant: Yep...yummy, sweet pomegranates.

 

On skin: Same.... very nice, and juicy. Pretty much just straight up pomegranates.

 

Dry down: A little smokiness comes out. I think this smells real nice... the smokiness is pleasant... not strong like a tobacco note. It makes the fruit part kind of "dry" to my nose. Seems to have a good throw. No morphing into anything else... pure pomegranate with that touch of smoke, just a touch. If you like pomegranate notes, then you will love this. Simple and true!

[zankoku_zen]

Smoky sweet juicy sticky pomegranates. Pom juice with a curl of incense. Good throw and wear length.

 

But you have to love pom.

Juicy sweet/tart pom juice with just hints of smoke wafting around. Bright red and delightful vibe!

This is JUICY pom with a sexy incense note which is amazingly blended, its hard to tell the two apart but no note is predominant they are equals in this and are dancing a sweet seductive tango...if you love pom and incense get this now

Really juicy, with a hint of incense. Doesn't have much of a throw and fades rather fast on my skin, but hopefully with a little aging it might improve. I do quite like it even still!

Whoa, Seven Word Story Lust is VERY incensey! In the bottle It smells super fruity pomegranate. But when I put it on my wrists it smells just like I am in this crystal shop by my house and took a big whiff of a pomegranate scented incense stick. It is a beautiful scent that has a real sexy, free spirited Bohemian vibe. I'm glad I have a bottle!

I bought this, because I'm planning on collecting all of the Seven Word Story installments (why? who knows), even though I tend to hate the lab's pomegranate note. This isn't as dry and tart as the pom usually is on me, though. It usually smells like powdery sweet tarts candy.
The red fruit here is bright, perfumey, and a little soapy, like a pomegranate scented shampoo. I'm not getting much incense at all, just a slight smokiness in the drydown that reminds me more of cigarette smoke than incense, which is appropriate for the story, I suppose.
I don't really like this, but I'm keeping my bottle for the set, so maybe something magical will happen to it with age.

As a non-smoker, I have to be absolutely honest and say the thought of smoke being breathed across lips did not inspire lustful thoughts, but the idea of pomegranate plus incense intrigued me. I'm very glad I threw caution to the winds and ordered a whole bottle straight up. The smokiness isn't overwhelming for me, just adds a mysterious undercurrent of vague "small dirty thoughts about bad things" to the fruit.

[Follow My Nose]

This perfume is true to the description and doesn't change much at all in the drydown on my skin.

 

Juicy, tart pomegranate with a soft, light incense adding a slightly smoky veil over the top. Sweet, rich, and sexy - brings to mind the image of dark red pom seeds in an antique silver dish.

 

If you are a pomegranate fan, you'll want a bottle of this for your collection. Delicious!

This smells like pomegranates and...laundry detergent? Seriously, I get a laundry note from this. But I don't mind, not at all, it's oddly intriguing. Clean with a little juice stain. I like it a lot!

Ugh. Nope. I thought it would be more pomegranate, but on my skin it goes straight to cigarette. I had to wash it off. It smelled much nicer in the bottle.
