zankoku_zen Report post Posted August 10, 2016 If crime is depicted it shall be as a sordid and unpleasant activity. Degenerate, squalid, and utterly wretched: bleached white cedar and bourbon vetiver with poplar, smoked cumin, oak-barrel whiskey, and a dribble of spiced rum absolute. OK, so I can see how this would scare people away between the vetiver and the smoked cumin. Let's just say that it starts off like a powerful brimstone smell. It dries pretty quickly to a smoky wood and whiskey/rum blend. Very masculine. Actually, sort of a slightly less piratey version of Jack Sparrow (oh, there's rum in there, and wood, and something not quite clean, but mascarading as a somewhat more respectable gent at the moment.) This is a scent for manly ruffians. Must like wood and whiskey, and the occasional smoke. Medium throw and wear length.
verystarry Report post Posted August 14, 2016 Okay. This is the weirdest description I'm probably ever going to give but I love this scent. It's very woodsy and boozy to me. Also on my body chemistry it smells like sexy man sweat. I described it to my friend as if "Ian" had gone for a drunk run through the woods without his leather jacket. Maybe the smoke part is what's going 'man sweat' on me but it's in the BEST possible way. I feel like people are avoiding this one and I'm not sure what the turn off is? Vetiver? But it's really cool and unusual. Woodsy lovers would go nuts for this one though. I really like it. It lasted a very long time on my skin and not sure about the throw. I always shove my arm in peoples faces and ask them what they think.
AirimirOfGondor Report post Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) Very nice! Seems to be the deepest of the 3 SDCC oils, and the most masculine. In the bottle, it's very boozy. The whiskey is strong, as is the rum. (I know it says bourbon vetiver, but I mostly just get a bourbon scent). Freshly applied, everything starts to blend together; the super-boozy aspects mellow out, and it gets a little sweeter. As it dries, a warm, spicy, wood note comes to the foreground. It reminds me more of mahogany, or the salty-wood notes from Jolly Roger. If I whiff very hard at this point, I get a sudden note of the cumin. When totally dry, it's a mellow, warm, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, slightly smokey, woodsy scent. Seems to have a lower throw for me, and seems to last a few hours. After about 2 hours of wear, it's starting to fade, but seems to have hit equilibrium - it's still sweet, and the spicy wood is still there, but the cumin seems to be the strongest note. All in all, I quite like it! This might be my favorite of the three. Edited August 19, 2016 by AirimirOfGondor
Little Bird Report post Posted April 27, 2017 Cumin has a weird, sweaty armpit funkiness that I'm really disliking with the sour, boozy whiskey. The spiced rum adds a cinnamon touch in the drydown, and there's a smoky wood thing in here as well. The sweaty cumin and sour whiskey just smell like someone was out too late and made themselves sick. Nope. A scrubber.
