TrailerTrashPrincess Report post Posted December 26, 2016 (edited) [No additional description given.] oh, i don't wanna be first! my reviews aren't that good! but, well, here we go anyway... i worked for Hallmark for years and years, several different stores. went through their full Customer Service Specialist training, and Gift Wrap School. i must have wrapped thousands of Keepsake Ornaments over the years, plus who knows what all else along the way.i also worked at the gift-wrap-station in the mall, the one at the customer service desk for Christmas, i did that for many years, and several malls! i didn't do it this year, but a few years back they set us up in an empty storefront, and there were anywhere from 3-8 of us in there at any one time. we got paid by the hour by the mall, but people had to pay for the gift wrapping - there were set fees based on approximate box size. i made samples, which were conveniently hollow in the back and were useful for our storage, behind the scenes. and some people gave tips on top of the price! i had people who kept coming back to me, even waiting in line for me to wrap things, even when the other wrapping-people weren't doing anything. one guy tipped me $50 because i did all his gift wrapping - i told him we'd wrap anything, it didn't have to be purchased at the mall and his eyes lit up and he brought me everything he'd bought. one lady bought a weight bench for her son - i couldn't lift it, but i wrapped it! (rolled it over when it needed to be turned). she was amazed, she didn't think i'd be able to manage it. she brought me a cookie later that day (from the cookie stand around the corner) my point is ... i enjoy wrapping presents! i'm good at it! and i know me the smell of wrapping paper. which is a fairly specific cheap-processed-paper smell, mingled with inks, and just the faintest hint of cellophane. and yep. that's been bottled. as far as wearing this, i think it would make an interesting layering note. or character-building scent for RPGs Edited December 26, 2016 by LiberAmoris
crimescenecleanup Report post Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) I get a subtle paper note, ink, and then something very similar to the paint note from The Day Burned White. That's actually one of my favorite scents, but Crumpled Wrapping Paper feels less balanced and less wearable. It has pretty good throw. hmmm...on further reflection, if this smells like anything, it smells like homemade wrapping paper made with kraft paper, tempera-paint and homemade stamps, like you make in kindergarten. I was hoping for more paper, less paint and ink, but as a single note, this is definitely accurate. Edited January 4, 2017 by crimescenecleanup
Anita Report post Posted January 31, 2017 I won this through a giveaway (looking at you crimescenecleanup- thanks again!) and finally had the opportunity to test it today. Super inky wrapping paper, definitely the kind where the ink may come off on your fingertips. It has that processed smell to it, but there is something in the background that I have smelled before but can't place it for the life of me. I agree with TTP I think that it would be a good layering scent, on it's own it makes you smell like you work in a print shop- which is fine by me because I like it, but people may need a bit more depth than that to wear it. Decent wear time and throw.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted February 3, 2017 Ozone and black ink. This reminds me to India Ink SN. But with a little more paper, and a little more ozone. Great throw and wear length.
PersimmonSeeds Report post Posted February 3, 2017 This is very true to the name. Paper and ink. It's spot on the smell of the after math of Christmas morning when you're surrounded by loads of wrapping paper. It is very reminiscent of The Manuscript on me. Though in the vial it smells similar to cheese cloth ghosts it is a bit heavier and has a strong inky note. I enjoyed this one but it didn't have great longevity or throw on me. I'll definitely look forward to layering this with other oils!
Little Bird Report post Posted February 13, 2017 Has a watery cucumber and sour pickle undertone, along with the strong scent of plasticy craft glue. Dries down with a powdery, papery edge, but still mostly smells very plastic-like on my skin. Plastic, dry powder, and sour cucumber.
doomsday_disco Report post Posted November 5, 2019 This really does smell like crumpled wrapping paper, but with some cucumber thrown into the mix. It has strong throw and longevity, and ends up becoming more powdery with a resinous touch over time. I don't think I would choose to wear this as a perfume, but it is certainly a scent experience! Lucchesa Report post Posted August 21, 2020 Crumpled Wrapping Paper smells just like wrapping paper. But not crumpled -- more like when you've just taken the plastic off a fresh roll and the ink it at its strongest. It's amazing to me how Beth recreates such a scent. Also, why. Once it's dry it's quite subtle, and the wear length is not great on me. But it's super interesting and realistic and I'm glad I got to try it.
