Teaotter Report post Posted February 7, 2017 Then said Gangleri: “How did the races grow thence, or after what fashion was it brought to pass that more men came into being? Or do ye hold him God, of whom ye but now spake?” And Jafnhárr answered: “By no means do we acknowledge him God; he was evil and all his kindred: we call them Rime-Giants. Now it is said that when he slept, a sweat came upon him, and there grew under his left hand a man and a woman, and one of his feet begat a son with the other; and thus the races are come; these are the Rime-Giants. The old Rime-Giant, him we call Ymir.” The first people: mugwort and thyme, fennel and frankincense, honey and myrrh. Wet: peppermint candy canes. Drydown: still very minty, but it backs off from candy cane territory and starts to smell more like the leaves of the plant Dry: This ends up very lovely and well-blended, after the first overwhelming MINT!!! burns off. I can't pick out particular notes, just a mildly sweet herbal incense. I usually amp honey and frankincense, but they're definitely staying in check here. Impression: cool, wistful incense, with a decent throw and longevity.
lizabelle Report post Posted February 24, 2017 Oh, wow. This is going into my cart immediately. On me this is all sweet, fresh herbs--I get no myrrh or honey, to the point that I'm very surprised to see them listed. Frankincense is absent, too. There's a lot of fennel and a lot of thyme, which mix wonderfully together. I don't know what mugwort smells like alone, but I'm guessing it's blending in with the other herbs; this smells a bit like a clover field in the middle of summer. It's utterly beautiful. zankoku_zen Report post Posted March 9, 2017 Peppermint, thyme, honey and mugwort. On wet, its a peppermint candy cane. As it dries, the herbal aspect comes through, with a pinch of honey to keep it sweet. Herbal, pungent, minty. Slightly masculine. Good throw, low wear length. VetchVesper Report post Posted April 17, 2017 Imp: Biting, astringent herbs in the imp. There's a camphorish quality that I'm guessing is from the mugwort. Skin: This is QUITE mugworty. I recognize it now from Startstruck Cancer. A musky sweetness starts to emerge, then turns into a nice, light honey. This isn't the dark, rich honey I usually love, it's more the light, sweet kind that goes a little powdery on me. It's nice though and balances out the bitey mugwort. Dry Down; Sure enough, this goes from a honeyed herbal tea smell, to a powdery, sweet herb skin scent sort of thing. I like it, and it's different. It reminds me a little of Door. Little Bird Report post Posted May 4, 2017 Reminds me of menthol/ eucalyptus / Vicks VapoRub when it's first applied. I don't like that cold, medicinal scent at all. Dries down with more of a dark green, bitter, herbal edge that keeps making me think of parsley. Over time, whisps of wildflower honey start to come through, but I just don't tend to wear these herbal, medicinal type blends.
