Burial v2

Recommended Posts

This is a Cobwebby exclusive from back in 2012, and it's been six years and no one seems to have reviewed it. And since there were a few bottles on Etsy, I went ahead and grabbed it.

Burial v2 starts off with a very smoky vetiver note, which calms down substantially. I get dirt... and HOLY HELL BATMAN, I am getting the same weird grapefruit note that I get from Capricorn 2004. Capricorn 2004, which is almost impossible to get your hands on, and it starts off as a weird woody blend that MAGICALLY BECOMES GRAPEFRUIT ZEST on my skin and I think it may be the aged cedar. In other words, if you age cedar for 10+ years, the citrus notes in the cedar transform to a strange grapefruit-like scent that just sort of stays around.

Dirt, grapefruit dust, and cedar. Yup.

So, I'm off to go score my own whole bottle.

In the vial this smells ... like smoke and vodka. Honest to god, vodka. Maybe grain alcohol. It's burny as hell and the throw is intensely hot-chemical-mess, whooooa. And then I put it on and it smells like WINDEX, but on fire. I'm so jealous of z_z's results - I love grapefruit and vetiver!

Obvs, YMMV.

This Burial prototype is heavy on the vetiver. It's very bold and smoky at first, but becomes more grassy over time. I also get some grapefruit after a while, like zee_zee mentioned. It smells realistic, and I vastly prefer it to the strong, smoky vetiver phase. I didn't get any of the dirt, pine, juniper, or patch that I got from the final version of the scent.

I prefer the Burial that made it into the GC over this prototype, but it was fun to get to try this and try to sniff out the notes in it. I wonder how many iterations Burial went through before it made it to its final iteration.
