Mountaingrrl00 Report post Posted October 9, 2021 I've been curious about ambrette seed, which features in some of my favorite fragrances. I've read that it's musky, but at first sniff, the part that isn't prune seems to be a cross between French vanilla and coconut, very odd. That changes fairly quickly, though, and what remains is a deep, rich prune scent. It smells kind of fermented without being fizzy or sour. It is so pretty up close, warm and inviting. The coconut aspect now reminds me more of heliotrope, and that jammy, perfumed/fermented plum-prune dimension is glorious.
zankoku_zen Report post Posted October 25, 2021 Rich prune scent, and a resiny cola undertone. Its got a musky overlay. Warm, inviting, prune. Medium throw and wear length.
Little Bird Report post Posted May 18, 2022 Ambrette Seed & Prune smells like an intensely sour, tart, unripe plum to me. I like it for the first few minutes of wear and then it's just too much for me. I find myself wanting some sweetness or anything to turn down the sour qualities.
