BPAL Madness!

Recommended Posts

The last glimmer of light against a deepening darkness: peach-tinted amber, bitter lemon, and King mandarin dipping behind tall, dry grasses shadowed with myrrh, black frankincense, labdanum, lavender mist, grey lilac, and a blackish-red musk.

First notes are ripe stone fruit and sweet then the powdery amber comes out and I guess the myrrh, there's a back drop of a really light floral and sweetness  and that all dries down to this gorgeous musk that almost has a brittle white /light vanilla aspect  I can't stop huffing my wrists. There is so much complexity here.  I do love red musk but this isn't a classic red musk and has none of the bitterness that I was expecting. Seriously gorgeous and I think very elegant.

Everything and the kitchen sink is going on here, but let's see.

Fresh on, there was an odd, light whiff of washed-out lilac against a complex background... and the whole is overtaken by a dark wave of spicy, blackened red musk. Sticky rocks of myrrh float in it, apparent and gone again with each wave.

Fruits slowly find a footing in this new, musky landscape: peach and mandarin. Mostly peach.

Honestly, though, it's mostly fruity and blackened red musk on me. This might work for red musk lovers. For me, it's kinda sloshy and messy.

gorgeous scent. a lot going on note wise but on the skin it’s very well blended for me. i agree that the musk-amber are the most dominant, giving this almost a perfumey vibe. it’s like a perfumey fruity-floral. in the bottle is sweet fruit-floral with probably the peach coming out the strongest. i saw this only because it’s more of a round fruit than any sharpness from the citrus notes. i don’t get the florals as distinct notes but rather adding a sweet edge to the fruits.

freshly applied and into the drydown it stays very true to the bottle scent. one of those scents where the throw is different from the on the skin, and i get more musks in the throw while closer to the skin is more sweet peach tinted amber. there’s a brief moment where the lilac tries to make itself know about an hour into the drydown but doesn’t quite become distinguishable as a lilac note. the resins aren’t screaming incense to me but seem to be adding to the musk/amber as a grounding element to the fruits and florals and keeping these notes from going into soap territory.

the only downside to this scent is my skin eats it! after about two hours the throw drops off a lot. it was moderate throw at first but after about the 2 hour mark the throw faded, while the peachy amber aspect was still there when sniffing my skin directly. still a love!
