Seajewel Report post Posted October 15, 2022 Three booze soaked apples soaked in smutty musks and sugar.
WhatAHoot Report post Posted October 23, 2022 Disclaimer: Skin tested with one full day of rest from the mail. Wet, there's something surprisingly clean about this, almost like laundry. As it dries down, it turns into a slightly candied apple musk. I expected more of the boozy sugar of Smut, but it's not showing up yet. I'll definitely be curious to try this again with some rest. starbrow Report post Posted October 23, 2022 Okay, INTERESTING. I'm comparing Bobbing for Smut with a Smut 2022. First, Bobbing for Smut by itself: sweet and candy-ish in the bottle, doesn't have a big musky depth. On the skin, the red musk pops a lot more, but I don't get the black musk or brown musk that I'm familiar with in Smut. The apple has a peel element (a little more woody) as well as the fruit element that's more juicy and pulpy. A hint of apple blossom as well? A tinge of something a bit floral, but I don't hate it! The apple seems to blend well into the fruity component that Smut always has lurking in its background anyways. Some might say a bit candle, and I wouldn't disagree. This is not really boozy at all. If anything, more like a light sparkling apple juice. Once I put on Smut 2022, the difference becomes clear. Bobbing seems to be missing the zippy "cola" labdanum kind of musks-and-spices that Smut has? Like maybe all the apple fruit and blossom is covering it up, and aging will bring it out? The difference is strong enough that if you currently smelled a bottle of Bobbing for Smut blindly, without knowing what its inspiration was, I don't know for sure that "Smut" would be the guess. The sugared red musk base just isn't enough to scream Smut to me. I suspect Bobbing for Smut will change the most of the Bobbings over time. It's one to keep an eye on. I enjoy it, but I think I will age it more before really wearing it. I will probably update this review in a year!
MamaMoth Report post Posted October 24, 2022 this opens with what feels like a bright red apple. you know that mealy, sweet, idealized apple. fresh and sweet, not tart at all. i also get a strong floral note that unfortunately tries to drown out everything else, but i am pretty sensitive (and averse) to most florals so take that as you will. it's not unusual for me to find fresh smut a little floral at times, but it seems much more prominent in this variation. the smutty musk is quite subdued, and i can't seem to find the booziness at all. so this is a faintly musky, floral, red delicious apple. dies down close pretty quickly, and eventually all i'm left with is a ghostly trace of musk and sugar.... pg-13 smut, if you will. fresh smut really isn't my jam anyway, so i am going to tuck this away in the hopes that old smutty magic will transmute it into something i will enjoy by next halloween. Casablanca Report post Posted October 24, 2022 Bright red apples bobbing in a vat of sweet, boozy, musky, slightly spicy apple-slosh. Basically. The booze (which smells bourbon-heavy) and red musk are a little more prominent for me here than in my memory of straight-up Smut... but it's been a while since I wore Smut solo. They come out swinging heavy (but oh so sweetly), and this is possibly a good time to mention that Bobbing for Smut might not be an office perfume (depending on your office, of course!). In drydown, I also start to smell some white floral. (It reminds me a bit of jasmine, though it's less intrusive and better blended than jasmine often is.) I'd rather I didn't smell this part, but it's not interfering too much. For all this seems to have a few notes that I usually sidestep, I do like this one quite a bit for a certain mood. (When the Lab box arrived, I was in that mood --- and I gloried in it.)
Threemoons Report post Posted October 31, 2022 I love all things Smut so had to get this one. In the bottle: A sort of candy-apple blast; the kind with the red hard crunchy coating. A pop of fresh apple, as in really fresh apple from an orchard, cut up, along with a background pop of something alcoholic, like sweet apple brandy. As it warms up on the skin, the sugary notes start to come out, which is really nice. Then, surprisingly, a sort of pink floral note steps up -- apple blossom? Drydown -- long, slow development on me on this one; after a day and a night of wearing I'm left with a sort of almost powdery floral skin musk with just a hint of sweetness and faint notes of original Smut in the far background, which is super weird because normally plain Smut on me stays strong and SMUTTY and boozy until I shower it off. Not this one! This one is great on its own but I could see it being a lot of fun to layer with other Weenies.
HerbGirl Report post Posted November 19, 2022 (edited) Disappointing. I bobbed for a smutty apple and came up with some bland apple laundry goo. There's no Smut in that barrel...maybe it will become more smutty with some age. After 30 minutes, there is a slight sweet afterwave of smut, like I had put Smut on 6 hours ago and am randomly smelling hints of it. I like to be smacked around by Smut so I was expecting Smutty Apples not the memory of smut and apple dryer sheets. Still debating letting it age... a_bear Report post Posted February 13, 2023 Light and sweet, not particularly boozy. The red musk doesn't stand out too much to me, and it's definitely not heavy or savory as it can sometimes be. In general Bobbing for Smut reminds me a lot of Lollipop Smut but with a bit of crisp apple instead of candy.
roseus Report post Posted March 4, 2023 In the imp I get a very sugary apple, and a smidge of musk. On my skin the apple is a bit fresher, juicier. It stills has a sugary coating, like biting into a candied apple with lots of musk swirling around.
Tamarinda Report post Posted March 8, 2023 In the decant: Fresh apples. A whiff of Smut. Wet: Loud, fresh apple juice from the juicer. The Smut becomes more apparent. Dry: Sexy, apple-y Smut. Like wearing Smut while oh-so-pornographically showering your naked body with artisinal apple juice. Padon my french but this is fucking good. It was mostly apples when my decants landed so I let it sit around before trying again. I expected it to be loudly Smut-y on landing, but I'm glad it's apple-forward since I'm a musk amper. This is a for-sure upgrade.
Little Bird Report post Posted April 5, 2023 This year's Bobbing scents are so apple dominant on me that I struggle to pick out the other notes in the blends. This one starts off like a sugary candied apple that's slightly perfumey/musky (but not darkly musky like Smut) and dries down reminding me of a red apple soap that I once had from Bath & Body Works. Smut is usually so strong to me and I just can't pick it out of this blend. I guess maybe I'm getting the extra sugar from Smut, but none of the dark musk or booze.
